Writing Zone

The last couple of weeks it seems my desk area has been a dumping zone and turned into a pile of paper.  I took an hour out of my day yesterday to organize my space and now I feel like I can re-focus on my writing.  Even though I have been working at it, I felt cramped and uncomfortable because of the pile.  Also, an added benefit  I can now safely light my candles.  I am spending the  rest of this afternoon in the zone working on my current WIP.   My I-pod is playing my writing mix that I have selected for this book currently playing…Somewhere over the rainbow performed by Israel Kamakawiwo’ele somewhere over the Rainbow.  This song reminds me of Hawaii and since my book is taking place there it helps get me in the zone, along with photo’s that I have of beaches and the Captain Cook monument.  I also have books and maps to help me as I add locations to my WIP.

I think have fleshed out some of the GMC issues I have been having and I am losing my opening chapter, paragraph.  I really felt it had a great hook but the starting place was too soon and pushed me too soon into  my turning point for the first act.  Still figuring out some of the internal conflict; external conflict I have figured out so I just have to connect that all together.

I feel refreshed now and I can keep my storing going.  I am behind on my original goal, so I have adjusted and targeting to have 10 chapters completed by April 15th.     I will keep you posted.

What do you do to help you get into the zone for writing or other tasks?
